Jesus’ claim to being the Savior as the Light of the world is received with criticism by the Pharisees who argue that a self-testimony is invalid. While this may be true of ordinary humans, when it comes to the Lord, His self-testimony is true because He, as God, knows the truth and speaks truth. In this sermon we consider this facet of the attribute of God: His knowledge. God is supremely knowledgeable.

While man responded to the good and holy God with sin against Him, God did not respond to man in kind. He, instead, loved the world and sent the Savior to rescue man from his plight of sin. The Savior whom God sent is none other than the Lord Jesus Christ, who is both fully God and fully man, who came to reveal God to man and to make atonement for his sins.

There are consequences to sin. This is the next question we consider we continue to work through the study of the gospel. The consequences of sin from Genesis 3 and Revelation 20 are separation from God, the curse and the final judgment. But there is HOPE. 2 Tim. 3:14-17, The Gospel
2 Tim. 3:15 explains that Scripture is able to give wisdom unto salvation through faith in Christ. The good news (“the gospel”) of Jesus Christ is the wisdom found in Scripture which every sinner must believe in order to be saved. In this first installment on the gospel, we answer biblically the first two foundational questions regarding God. “Who created the world?” and “What is God’s character like?” This is the first of four part series on the gospel questions and answers (catechism).
