Christ Died: To Show the Father's Love (Romans 5:8)

Christ died not only to demonstrate His own love but to reveal the Father's deep love for sinners. While we were unworthy, God’s greatest sacrifice showed His boundless love, calling us to recognize and respond to His grace.

We started a three week study of love as the reason why Christ died. The first reason is that Christ died to show His love for the Father. We can see Christ’s love for the Father through His obedience. Jesus obeyed the Father by going to the cross.

Christ Died: To Satisfy God’s Wrath (1 John 4:10)

What is propitiation? Propitiation is the satisfaction of God’s wrath through sacrifice. Three theological truths lead up to 1 Jon 4:10: 1) God is righteous; 2) God is righteously angry at sin; 3) God punishes sin with death.
Jesus Christ died to satisfy the wrath of God in the place of sinners.

This was our kick off meeting for the year on the value of Scripture. The Bible itself explains why the Bible is valuable. Three value statements are found in this passage: 1) Scripture gives wisdom for salvation, 2) Scripture is inspired by God, and 3) Scripture is profitable for godly living.
