The Bible speaks from the one voice of the Holy Spirit through many human authors. The theology and the message of Scripture are unified.

This present world will come to an end. Not only planet earth but the entire created order will be destroyed. This is Peter’s message.

The false teachers of 2 Peter were the first reconstructionists. They denied the historical account of creation and judgment and opted for an alternate narrative. Why did they do this? To legitimize their lusts and deny divine accountability.

The message of judgment and repentance has always been the call of God. Those who stubbornly refuse to heed the word will face the day of the Lord as God’s enemies and will face His wrath. Those who repent will face instead the day of salvation.

Jesus promised freedom from slavery to sin. Those who continue in a lifestyle of sin are not children of God and are in desperate need of true conversion from their rebellion against God to reconciliation with Him as His worshippers.

Wickedness does not go unnoticed by the holy God. He will judge all who steer others away from the pathway of life. Peter warns us, lest we be led astray and participate in the evil deeds of darkness.

God judges sin and He preserves His redeem safe from the wrath to come.

As seen repeatedly in the OT times, Peter warns us of false teachers who will arise in the church. We are warned of this danger so that we are not deceived and misled. The call of Scripture and the gospel is undeniably clear: repent, receive forgiveness of sins through Christ, be reconciled to God, and pursue God’s holiness.
