On his way to the wicket gate, Christian meets Worldly Wiseman, who convinces him that there is an easier way to be freed from his burden. Christian follows his advice toward Legality, only to find himself in greater danger with an even heavier burden.
Through Christian’s mistake, we learn that worldly wisdom can lead us away from God’s truth. True wisdom begins with fearing the Lord, so we must seek wisdom from God and reject self-righteousness and empty religion.
